About Me

Animal lover Joanne West finds inspiration in the gentle creatures of the Earth. The furry friends, particularly dogs, who populate her home and heart are reflected in her work. Her furniture and collectibles include whimsical animals dressed in finery and have brought her success as both an artist and designer. Children love her work. So do adults. Joanne creates for the child in all of us. The hand-crafted and painted fantasy furniture pieces are all one-of-a-kind works of art. Joanne’s ornaments, music boxes, needlepoint pillows and miniatures are prized collectibles. Her creations have appeared in prestigious stores, catalogues, television and radio, as well as in US newspaper and magazine articles.

A Texas girl for most of her life, Joanne married writer Patrick Cornish in 2004 and moved with him to the UK for several years. They now live in Perth, Western Australia, not far from their grandchildren. Joanne is currently working on a children’s book with Matt Ottley (mattottley.com) called The Great Game at Wutherington’s Bog, while producing more animal furniture for all sorts of clients. A hospital, which commissioned three pieces, refers to them as “diversion therapy” for patients. Wutherington’s Bog will be published in 2013. If you would like to discuss my creating a special project for you, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
